This year at the Lakmé Fashion Week we were crushing on everything bridal.  While we spotted plenty of hot trends we thought some deserved our special attention! Florals spell elegance and are easy to wear. Anushree Reddy gave the print a new dimension by blending in zari work in her ghagra choli at the Lakmé Fashion Week.

While wearing the two pieces together to give the illusion of one interesting dress worked in theory, the all-embellished top half and ruffle-rich bottom half made for a rather unflattering silhouette in reality.

With a focus on local textiles and handlooms and re-inventing traditional cuts, silhouettes and styles, this fashion week was all about bringing out modern appeal and functionality while keeping the heart of culture secure. Manish Malhotra, during his masterclass told us that more and more brides are approaching him, asking him to create an outfit that would both please their in-laws during the ritual part of the wedding and then appeal to their senses post the departure of their in-laws—so that they can dance their way to one memorable wedding. There’s nothing more interesting to see than to witness the bride enjoy her wedding more than the guests.
